About Mackenzie

Before her election to City Council, Mackenzie served our community in the Round Rock Fire Department Training Division, with Williamson County Emergency Management, and as a key member of the City of Austin Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). In 2019, Kelly's leadership was recognized when she was elected president of the 100th class of the Austin Police Department's Citizen Police Academy. This role solidified her close working relationship with APD, providing her with a unique insight into local law enforcement's critical needs and reinforcing her advocacy for robust support and funding for the police.

From 2005 to 2013, Kelly dedicated herself to the Jollyville Fire Department, where she developed a deep respect for first responders. During this period, she also completed a year-long fellowship through the Disaster Science Academy, further honing her expertise in emergency response.

Kelly's commitment to serving Austin's vulnerable populations extends to her work in home health care and her appointment by Governor Rick Perry to the Governor’s Committee on People with Disabilities, highlighting her dedication to improving the lives of those in need.

On a personal note, Kelly takes great pride in her family. She is a proud mother and is happily married. Kelly is also a proud alumna of Westwood High School, class of 2005 (Go Warriors!).
